CARA Certificate

 

What is the CARA Certificate?

To support and honor students’ commitment to community engagement and social change, Oakes offers the CARA Certificate. Students are recognized in a ceremony and receive a certificate that represents and recognizes all work experience, networking, and a sense of belonging within the community that they gain from our coursework, as well as a CARA graduation stole. How do I earn the CARA Certificate?

Students who successfully complete a minimum of 14 units from the following courses qualify for the Oakes CARA Program Certificate. Students can choose any of the classes in order to qualify. Classes can be taken multiple times for credit in order to fulfill the minimum of 14 units.

Use the CARA Certificate Tracking Form to keep track of your courses and to update CARA staff to see if you qualify for the certificate.

Some courses from other departments may count for CARA credit. Please email oakscara@ucsc.edu with your course syllabus/syllabi or projects if you have taken or are currently taking courses that you think meet CARA criteria that aren’t on this list. CARA staff will get back to you about their approval. Courses will be assessed on a case by case basis.
